Exam Preparation courses

The John’s English School English exam preparation courses are perfect for kids and teens aged 12-18 who want to improve their English language skills and prepare for one of the Cambridge exams Key A2, Preliminary B1, First B2 or CAE C1.

The courses run from the start of October to the end of May, with two 60-minute lessons per week. Our teachers are qualified and experienced native speakers who will help your child improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities ready for the exam.
Our courses are high quality and tailored to the individual needs of the students. We understand that everyone learns differently, so our teacher will work to ensure the students are making progress every week.
Each group has a maximum of 6 students, so they'll get plenty of opportunities to practise and ask questions.
To ensure each student is placed in the right group, we may hold an initial online meeting and level test.
All students also get access to the private members' area on the John's English Club website. Here, there are extra materials, quizzes and videos to help practise English even more.

Exam preparation for all levels 

The Cambridge Young Learners exams are a series of tests that assess English language skills of children aged between 7 to 12. The tests are designed to make learning fun and encourage children to develop their language abilities.

KEY is a beginner level exam (A2), and it's useful for anyone who already understands basic English, At the end of the course they will be able to or use English for simple everyday situations like giving personal information, talking about hobbies or describing pictures.

The B1 Preliminary qualification demonstrates mastery of the basics of English and practical language skills for everyday use. This exam serves as a logical step in the language learning journey between A2 Key and B2 First.
The FIRST exam is categorized as an upper-intermediate level (B2) assessment, making it valuable for individuals seeking opportunities to work or study abroad or engage in businesses involving international interactions.
The Cambridge Advanced C1 exam is classified as an advanced level assessment, providing immense value to individuals aspiring to work or study abroad, as well as those involved in businesses that require frequent international interactions.

Key English Test A2 Preparation

The Cambridge Key is an exam designed to assess basic English skills.

Preliminary English Test B1 Preparation

The Preliminary English Test is suitable for learners who already have a basic (A2) understanding of English and can handle everyday situations, such as shopping, travelling, and social interactions. Achieving the B1 Preliminary qualification demonstrates a practical ability to communicate effectively in English and opens doors to various educational and professional opportunities. It's a logical step before preparing for Cambridge First B2.


First English Test B2 Preparation

Cambridge First is an exam that assesses all English language skills, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It's designed for individuals with a B1 certificate or those who can read more complex books and articles, write longer letters or emails, and engage in conversations on various topics.

First is categorized as an upper-intermediate level exam (B2), making it valuable for those seeking opportunities to work or study in different countries or industries that involve international interactions.

Cambridge Young Learners

Cambridge Young Learners courses

Our Cambridge Young Learners courses are designed for children aged 7 to 12 years old who are learning English as a second language. There are three levels: Starters, Movers, and Flyers. Each level is tailored to suit the age and language proficiency of the student.

Starters is the first level and is intended for beginners who have little or no previous experience with the English language. The course focuses on building a foundation of basic vocabulary and sentence structure through fun and interactive activities.


Movers
is the second level and is intended for students who have some basic knowledge of English. The course continues to build on the foundation of Starters and introduces more complex vocabulary and grammar. Students will practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through various activities and games.

Flyers is the third level and is intended for students who have a good command of the English language. The course focuses on refining their skills and expanding their vocabulary and grammar knowledge. Students will learn how to communicate effectively in a variety of real-life situations, such as giving directions, making plans, and expressing opinions.


All three levels of the Cambridge Young Learners courses have two 45-minute lessons per week and run from the start of October to the end of May. The courses are taught by qualified teachers who are native speakers and have experience teaching younger students. The classes are kept small, with a maximum of 6 students per group, to ensure that each student receives personalised attention. The lessons are designed to be fun and engaging to keep the students motivated and interested in learning English.
